    Student Responsibilities and Rights

Scheduling an Exam (students are typically responsible for scheduling their tests in cooperation with their instructors)
    1. Students must have a current Letter of Accommodation from the Office of Accessibility (OA) to schedule an exam with the Testing Center.
    2. Regular exam requests are scheduled to the left, at least seven days before the date of quiz/test/exam with preference being given on a first-come, first-serve basis, based on available time slots. Students are encouraged to schedule the entire semester in advance using the form to the right.  Slots during "remote only" testing periods are open to one student at a time (unless in the same class, taking same exam), due to the nature of remote testing.
    3. Late exam requests are made if the request is in less than seven days before the exam date. Students should be prepared to take the exam with the class unless notified by the OA Testing Center that the late request has been approved.
    4. Cell phone, smart watches, backpacks and other personal belongings are not permitted during testing. No headphones without prior approval for accommodations purposes.
    5. During remote testing, a webcam must be used, and on, the duration of the test (including audio) and the student will be expected to show the entire workspace before beginning the test.  If visual filed is not sufficient, student will be asked to adjust camera, and if not possible, then student will be asked to relocate or reschedule (instructor will be notified).
Faculty/Staff Who choose to schedule their own tests (rather than have student schedule):

Faculty are advised to arrange exams within the same time-frame that the exam is being given in class, unless an alternate option is offered and agreed upon.

Alternative test (under ADA) proctoring is available on Adrian's SHU campus, as a service to faculty. You are welcome to use the Testing Center to proctor exams for students who have approved accommodations through the Office of Accessibility (OA). As an alternative to using Testing Center services, you may choose to proctor your own exams at a time and place arranged with the student. Please ensure you can provide the requested accommodations before proctoring exams outside of the Testing Center.

Faculty using testing services are required to submit exam requests at least 7 days in advance. When an exam request is approved by the Testing Center, you will receive email confirmation. This confirmation will include exam scheduling detail and exam delivery/upload instructions.
